Shrewsbury students improve even further on last year's incredible A*/A percentage

EXAM SUCCESS FOR GCSE STUDENTS

· 70% A*/A (7+ equivalent)

· 98% A*-C (4+ equivalent)

· Nearly 1 in 5 students score straight A*/A grades

· Nearly  1 in 3 students score 7+ A*s grades

Congratulations to Shrewsbury’s 113 iGCSE students who collected their final set of examination results today, confirming an improvement on last year’s already exceptional results with 70% examinations scoring the top A*/A grades (7+ equivalent).

Results were strong across the year group, with 98% exams scoring A*-C grades, nearly a third of students scoring 7+ A*s, and at the very top end, nearly one fifth of the entire cohort scoring straight A*/A grades.

Leading the way with 12 straight A* grades each were Tanai (Prompt) Chotanaphuti, Bhumikorn (Bhu) Kongtaveelert and Petra Pongsudhirak, accompanied by Tamisa (Tuang) Ketmalasiri, Intanon (Trophy) Somboontanasarn, Piraya (Pami) Srisathitvatana and Thien Udomsrirungruang with 11 A*s, and Ruoning (Lisa) Wu, Bhuree (Parn) Boonyakitsombat ,Natcha (Nile) Chalermchockcharoenkit, Chanya (Jeannie) Koshpasharin and Isabel Nguyen with 10 A*s each. 

Taking his Mathematics GCSE one year early, a subject where 63% exams scored A*, Year 10 student Pichaya (Ton Palm) Limprayoon scored 100%. Performances in the science subjects was also strong, with 100% of the Biology and Physics examinations achieving A*/A.  It is another proud day for the Mandarin department too, with every single examination scoring top grades.
