TERM 2 REVIEW 2020-21

STRING PLAYERS PITCH PERFECT IN ONLINE COMPETITION

Term One saw an explosive start to the year in the Shrewsbury String Department with the launch of The Chamber Music Programme - where violinists, violists and cellists are invited to join an exclusive session of ensemble training that culminates in at least one concert per term. A high standard is expected and required from each student regarding the preparation of parts, dedication to the rehearsal and lesson schedule and level of performance.

Although COVID-19 has presented many challenges - especially at the start Term 2 -  we are delighted to announce that a number of talented students have been awarded three prestigious prizes by the  Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Chulalongkorn University’s International Virtual String Competition.

Medals were awarded to students (and teachers) across a number of age groups who exhibited excellent proficiency on their instrument. They are as follows:

“Our young musicians have shown that despite multiple challenges, with hard work and focus anything is achievable! We have practised both live and online since the start of the school year and in their own way they have expressed a willingness to strive forward,” she said.
