TERM 2 REVIEW 2020-21

A WELCOME RETURN TO SCHOOL

Although Term 2 officially began three weeks ago, students have been absent from schools across the city due to a second closure caused by COVID-19. That ended on the 1st of February as the Shrewsbury community made their way back to the school gates to restart in-person lessons.

Shrewsbury staff were out in force to ensure that safety measures put in place were being adhered to - such as temperature screening and mask-wearing. Pleasingly all students took the correct safety precautions and made their way to their respective classes.

Principal Chris Seal remarked, "Our teachers worked really hard through online learning to bring quality lessons to students, but it is difficult to replicate in-person classes. We are pleased to be back and are looking forward to all the wonderful things we will see in Term 2."

A deep clean of all classrooms preceded the student's arrival with all attendees required to adhere to the guidelines in the Safe Return Handbook until further notice.

Apart from that, it was business as usual in Mr Gardner's Year 3 class, who began the day with a Thai lesson - picking up from where they left off. Meanwhile, in Mr O'Brien's Year 6 class, students took part in some meditative breathing exercises in order to calm them and focus their learning. Students discussed how the exercises made them feel, in preparation for a maths lesson!

It is a pleasure to welcome everyone back to school, and we hope that it remains this way without any more interruptions. A big thank you to all parents and caregivers for their patience over a challenging period - let's get back to it!
