TERM 1 REVIEW 2020-21

YEAR 4 GO EXPLORING IN BANG KRACHAO

Students in Year 4 doubled as explorers late last week as they tested out their orienteering and navigation skills in Bang Krachao, also known as the ‘Green Lung’.

The leisure area, a large urban oasis in the middle of Bangkok, was the perfect place to identify the native flora and fauna of Thailand as well as make their way from waypoint to waypoint.

Tied in with Year 4’s topic of ‘Natural Disasters’, the students have been venturing out of the classroom often to complete tasks. Recently, classes have been taking part in ‘Forest School’ activities - using natural elements to create flood and tsunami defences as well as temporary shelters out of bamboo.

Year 4 teacher, Mr James Nash, says that field trips such as this are hugely important to extend students’ understanding and knowledge.

“Our students really embraced the trip to Bang Krachao, using the tools they were given to complete the set activities after being demonstrated the correct way to use them in class. They all looked like they had a lot of fun!”
