A FESTIVAL OF GOALS FOR OUR YOUNG FOOTBALLERS

Shrewsbury was proud to host its first ‘Goals Fest’ event over the weekend of the 20th of November -  a new brand of ‘competition’ which is fast becoming a staple within U9 football.

The event is predicated on the scoring of goals, goals and more goals, and there are no points awarded for wins, losses or draws. The aim is simple, score as many goals as you possibly can over the course of the day. The programme works fantastically well in engaging the students, as well as placing an added emphasis on a positive experience. Head of Football, Mr Simon Murgatroyd says the day was a complete success despite the weather doing it’s best to take the players from the field with an almighty downpour!

“St. Andrews provided wonderful competition, with both their students and ours displaying an array of impressive talent as well the necessary enthusiasm and exuberance expected from a group of seven and eight-year-olds!” He stated excitedly.

“I’d like to thank staff and coaches that helped to prepare and run the event, as well as the students and parents who made it such a spectacle. We look forward to hosting plenty more of these events in the future.”
