TERM 2 REVIEW 2019-20

WELCOME TO 2020!

Riverside was full of happy, smiling facing on Wednesday 8th January as students made their way to classes for the first day of Term 2 and the New Year. As always it great to welcome everyone back after the festive break and also to say hello to our new joiners too!

We hit the ground running this half term with Shrewsbury Parents Family Night on the 10th of January. This is always a really popular event with entertainment, excellent food and the chance to make new friends within the school community.

The second week of term will see our Year 6 to Year 10 students travelling to Kanchanaburi, Khao Yai, Rayong, Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai for their annual residential trips. These “weeks without walls” are packed with exciting opportunities and new experiences for our students to grow both as individuals and as year groups. Meanwhile, back at Shrewsbury, our Year 12 students take part in a leadership conference and Careers Day where they will gain valuable insights about different career paths from a variety of expert speakers.

We also have the first “Shrewsbury Stars Playgroup” on January 15th which is open to all parents with children aged 1-4. There are limited spaces available so make sure you register your place HERE

Later, in week 3, Chinese New Year celebrations for the Year of the Rat are to be organised by the Mandarin department. Dragon dancers, colourful costume, tasty Chinese snacks and traditional Chinese music await.

Almost everything that we do at Shrewsbury is student-centric but TeachMeet 2020 is an event solely for educators to be held on January 30th. Teachers from all around Bangkok are invited to Shrewsbury to share ideas and present innovative practices. TeachMeet is part of Shrewsbury’s commitment to developing our staff and lead the way when it comes to modelling best teaching practice.

The first week of February marks the start of Junior Art week, culminating in an exhibition on February the 7th. Our finest young artists will be busy painting, sculpting and designing masterpieces that will be on display after the weeks’ efforts.

These are just some of the amazing events going on at Shrewsbury to start 2020. There will be many more in the second half of the term too. Make sure you check out the school calendar for more details
