The big sports news of the week comes from both the boys and girls varsity Volleyball teams who both finished 2nd in the South East Asian Student Activities Council (SEASAC) Division 2 championships in Singapore. It was heartbreak for the boy’s side who had two match points, but couldn’t convert the advantage into a victory. The girl’s game was also a tight affair; but against the reigning champions and home side, Stamford – it was a step too far on this occasion.

Nevertheless, both sides should be incredibly proud of themselves as it isn’t often that Shrewsbury students make an appearance at SEASAC events and this result may bring about further participation going forward.

Also on the weekend there was the annual ISB Swim Gala where our athletes finished a respectable 6th out of 24 teams competing. Our under 8 boys were particularly impressive – finishing 2nd overall.

We also have the results from the previous weekend's BISAC end of season tournament.

·         22 Shrewsbury teams represented.

·         200+ athletes participating.

·         Under 13 boys cross country – 1st

·         Under 15 Girls Basketball – 2nd

·         Touch rugby – 2nd

·         Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball – 2nd

·         Junior Varsity Boys Football – 3rd

·         Under 13 Girls Football – 3rd

·         U11 Girls Football – 2nd

·         U15 Boys Football - 3rd

·         U13 Boys Basketball -  2nd in plate

The big story to come out of the BISAC  tournament was Kiyan (1st) and Tonkau (2nd) carrying Shrewsbury home to victory in the cross country for a first place overall. Director of Sport Paul Rotherham was also particularly keen to point out the phenomenal progress of the Tennis team.

“Our Under 13 Boys Tennis team finished 3rd which is an absolutely fantastic result for them as their progress has been exponential since the start of the school year. The Girls squad and Boys B team are also making excellent progress.”
