On Monday 18th November, Key stage 1 children  City Campus joined their counterparts at Riverside to enjoy a special visit from New York Times-reviewed Mike Curato, who came to speak about his career as a published children’s author and Illustrator. His beloved character, ‘Little Elliot’ - a miniature elephant, trying to find his place in the big city - is the focal point of all his books.

The softly spoken Curato, entertained the children with a reading from two of his books and then asked students to create their own story about Little Elliot. The students obliged with typical creativity and imagination, and were in fits of laughter as they told their own scenario involving the tiny, polka-dotted elephant and his friend ‘the mouse’.

After the reading was over Mr. Curato met with children, posed for pictures and signed books. It's always a real honour and inspiration to have real authors visit Shrewsbury, and this was no exception. Thanks Mike!
