At the end of May, 20 athletes from Year 5 and 6 travelled to Thanyapura, Phuket, to compete in the 2019 Primary FOBISIA Games. With a strong team this year, selected through our rigorous process looking for performance, training attendance, sportsmanship and effort, we gained top results. Our Shrewsbury Primary FOBISIA team earned an overall 1st in both Athletics and Football, and 3rd in Swimming. In Teeball our A and C team placed 2nd, the B team came 3rd and our D team 4th.

Ms Coad, Junior PE Coordinator, said “The Primary FOBISIA Games 2019 was a huge success, and our athletes enjoyed a variety of sports with tough competition from schools across the world. Every day our athletes competed in front of crowds of supporters cheering on each school. The atmosphere was electric, from the moment Shrewsbury carried the flag at the opening ceremony to the final celebration at the gala dinner. Team Storm committed 100 percent to the training programme leading up to the games, and also throughout the competition. Overall the trip was a huge success, with our athletes enjoying the chance to mix with other children, demonstrate their sportsmanship and overall resilience when losing. Thank you to all of the children, parents and staff for an amazing Games, until next year!”
