TERM 3 REVIEW 2018-19

FACETIME FOR YEAR 6

As part of the Year 6 Graffiti Art topic Shrewswbury was visited for the third time by influential Thai graffiti artist Patcharapol Tangruen, also known as Alex Face.  Usually busy touring the world with his own exhibition we were lucky to be visited by both Alex and his daughter Mardi, who is the inspiration behind his graffiti style.

Year 6 were really excited about having the chance to paint with a professional artist, who worked with them to produce two large striking artworks, which are now proudly displayed in the Shrewsbury atrium for the rest of the school to enjoy.

Alex gave a presentation to the children about his work and offered them advice about their own graffiti art, linked to Romeo and Juliet.  Each class sprayed their own ‘tag’ onto the canvases under Alex’s guidance after a technique demonstration. Alex then sprayed the final design – linked to the UN Sustainable Development Global Goal, Quality Education.

Kiyan 6SK said, “It was really cool how he taught us some different spraying techniques. His presentation was really interesting and clear. It was such fun spraying my tag and a smiley face onto the canvas and the finished piece looks super-good, I’ve sent pictures to my sister in the US to see”.

Sam 6PA said “ I enjoyed Alex’s company a lot. He was really funny, shared his story and inspired lots of us to explore our creativity more”.
