Following an extensive search, Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside is delighted to announce the appointment of Jade Sharman to the role of Assistant Principal for Early Years, commencing in August 2024. This position is new to the school, and it was designed to help support and maintain the high quality of the school's Early Years educational provisions.

Ms Sharman is an experienced Early Years and Junior School leader at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside, and will bring her valuable insight and skills to our Senior Management Team. Before moving to Bangkok, she worked as a class teacher for pupils up to 7 years old in the UK. In 2017, Ms Sharman joined us as a Year 1 teacher, then a Year 1 Team Leader in 2018 and a Key Stage 1 Leader in 2022.

“I was extremely excited when I was offered the position of Assistant Principal - Early Years. Leading an outstanding Early Years setting has been my goal for many years, and I feel honoured to be doing that at an outstanding school like Shrewsbury,” Ms Sharman said. “The first person I told was my partner, George. He was just as excited as I was, and we have been celebrating the news ever since!”

During her seven years at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside, she has also delivered training to other international schools in Thailand around the concept of play-based learning. In 2022, she spoke at 'The Power of Play' conference, which was hosted at the school.

Ms Sharman has extensive experience in leading all aspects of Early Years education, which was ignited during her university years. During that time, she was placed in a London-based Reception class alongside other exceptional Early Years educators, which opened her mind to the impact of early childhood education and how it affects the trajectory of a child's life.

A lifelong learner herself, she has recently completed her National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML course) - with a project of developing Phonics in Key Stage 1 that she rolled out to Years 1 and 2 to improve the standards of reading across KS1 at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside.

"Jade is a passionate advocate for Early Years education and has lots of evidence-based ideas about how to continue to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. She is a keen learner herself, and I know she will thrive in a phase of the school which is all about discovering interests and exploring passions,” Mr Millar said. “Her vision for Early Years and her knowledge and expertise in this area were a real strength, including her understanding of our community and how Early Years serves as a crucial foundation for the next phase of a child’s education."

Our community looks forward to extending a warm welcome to Ms Sharman as she takes on her new role at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside.
