Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside's Ratchanon (TK) Chantananuwat Secures Scholarship to Stanford University

Shrewsbury International School Bangkok, Riverside, is proud to announce that Year 12 student Ratchanon (TK) Chantananuwat has received a scholarship to Stanford University. TK, a rising golf talent and two-time World Junior Champion, is known for his impressive swing and academic dedication.

TK joined in 2012 as part of the EY1 cohort and is well-known to everyone on campus. He is an outstanding student in many ways, both in and out of the classroom, But is particularly renowned for his exceptional level of golf.

Stellar accomplishments mark his golfing journey; Aged just 13, TK became the youngest player in the All Thailand Golf Tour history in August 2020. He then made international headlines at 15 by becoming the youngest male player to win an OWGR (Official World Golf Ranking) sanctioned event, with victory at the Trust Golf Asian Mixed Cup in Thailand. In 2022, TK placed 16th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and even brought home the gold medal for Thailand's Male Golf Team at the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

"The school has been incredibly supportive and understanding," TK notes. "They've helped me manage my time effectively, allowing me to pursue my golfing goals while maintaining a strong academic performance."

Despite an increasingly demanding and competitive golf schedule, TK exemplifies the character strengths we promote as a school through the respect he affords everyone in the school community, alongside his resilience in maintaining his studies and school life 

TK’s advice to his peers is simple: "Whether you're an athlete or a student, it's important that you put in the work, I believe that everything is earned and not given— all you have to do is put in the effort."

After being a big part of our lives for so long we will be sad to see TK leave our community, but we look forward to following his next adventure as an alumnus at Stanford, or out on the competitive golf circuit.
