MEET A NEW MEMBER OF OUR SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM: SONYA PAPPS
As Shrewsbury Riverside’s Vice Principal (Head of Senior), Ms Papps, who recently completed her National Professional Qualification for Headship, will apply her vision and extensive experience from more than a decade of heading the Senior School at Taipei European School’s British Secondary School.
“I joined Shrewsbury from Taipei European School (TES) where I was the Head of the British High School and Secondary Campus. I worked at TES for 14 years in several leadership roles including Head of Year, Assistant Head and Deputy Head, before becoming Head in 2018.
I have experience of leading all aspects of senior school life including areas such as curriculum innovation, teacher development, staff recruitment and student leadership. I have a deep interest in Positive Education and have presented at conferences worldwide. In December I finished my National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and I am also completing a Doctorate in Elite Performance. I often speak to students and teachers about lifelong learning and so I try to model this myself.
I am delighted to join this exceptional school. In addition to leading the Senior School I am very much looking forward to teaching KS3 History and co-leading the Current Affairs Club with Mr. Millar!”
