TERM 2 REVIEW 2019-20

YEAR 7 AWAITS

Year 6 families at City Campus continue to make history as they prepare to become the first cohort to graduate and join Shrewsbury Riverside for their secondary education.

The senior leadership teams at both City Campus and Riverside have worked closely together to create a carefully structured transition programme, to ensure that children, parents and staff feel equipped and ready for this important milestone.

This week, Year 6 families from City Campus were invited by Mr Chris Seal, Principal at Riverside to spend the afternoon at the campus. After refreshments and a warm welcome from Mr Seal, parents and children were taken on tours of the senior school, led by Mr Rob Millar (Vice Principal of the Senior School) and Mr Rob Groves (Assistant Principal, Academic).

City Campus families were taken into senior classrooms and other specialist learning spaces to meet some of the teachers would be working with them next year. Parents and children were full of excitement and questions as they took in what is waiting for them from Year 7 onwards.

Families also had the opportunity to hear stories from the horse’s mouth, as students from Riverside shared their perspectives and highlights of senior school.

Ms Amanda Dennison, Principal at City Campus shared, "This latest transition event gave our parents and children an important glimpse into the exciting opportunities which lie ahead. This is history in the making...our founding Year 6 children will be the first to take up their guaranteed places at Riverside in August 2020, and we are looking forward to seeing them all continue to thrive."

All students who graduate from Year 6 at City Campus are given a guaranteed place at Riverside from Year 7. For more information, please contact the Admissions Team on 02 203 1222 or email admissions-city@shrewsbury.ac.th.
