OUR RESOURCES

The Library offers resources and programmes designed to foster a lifelong love of books and reading, and to help students develop critically important research and digital literacy skills.

With a collection of more than 9,000 physical books, thousands of ebooks and specially selected digital resources specifically for our primary-aged students, the Library aims to meet the needs of all learners. Parents, nannies and school staff also have access to our collection of books and online resources.

We also have a selection of games and a “makerspace” where children can explore and create with a variety of crafts.

HOW THE LIBRARY IS USED

All classes visit the Library for at least one lesson every week, utilising the resources and reading spaces to conduct planned reading activities, then to return and borrow books. The Library also offers a daily programme of lunchtime activities including board games, film showings and mindfulness.

OTHER LIBRARY SERVICES

The Library offers after-school activities through Shrewsbury’s “You-Time!” programme.

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES

The Library subscribes to Tumblebooks which are animated stories designed to help those learning to read.

Parents can request log-in details to access this collection themselves, by contacting the Library Team: library-city@shrewsbury.ac.th

Not sure what to read next? Finished all the books in your favourite series? Look out for Book Reviews in the Library Notices above to find out which books are recommended by our Library staff.

SPECIAL EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

The Library organises a number of special events throughout the school year. There are author visits, book fairs, family reading challenges and more.

Recent author visits have included UK writer and illustrator Jayne Schofield, and sustainability activist Stephen Swinburne. We also invite local Thai authors and hold online poetry workshops for 'Poem in Your Pocket' week.

Shrewsbury is part of a network of schools that organises The Siam Book Awards. This takes place in the spring term and the winner is chosen by our students.

The highlight of the Library’s calendar is the "Fully Booked" Book Week - which features reading activities, costume parades, author presentations and special storytimes.
