TERM 2 REVIEW 2019-20

PARENTS WOWED BY D&T CURRICULUM

As part of City Campus’s Tea & Topics events programme, parents were invited to hear what their children have been up to in their D&T lessons.

Ms Katie Holland, our specialist D&T teacher, showcased an impressive range of projects taken on by our young innovators, including computer-aided design (CAD), handmade charity donations, and robotics.

As the first primary school in the world to offer the DEC (Design, Engineer, Construct) programme, there was plenty of exciting opportunities to share.

Ms Holland reiterated to parents how impressed she had been with their children’s creativity, skill and commitment to the subject.

“The students are doing things in my D&T lessons that I haven’t even seen at secondary school level,” Ms Holland enthused.

One of the main strengths of the school’s D&T programme is its connections to other subjects within the curriculum. Students are undertaking design and technology projects directly linked to their class topics, providing a holistic and meaningful context to the children’s learning.
