TERM 2 REVIEW 2019-20

BRITISH AUTHOR SHARES HER STORY

Author and illustrator Gail Clarke was warmly welcomed back to City Campus to share more adventures from her well-loved books.
Gail explained to our students how she became an author, and she told us what about some of the endangered animals that inspire her writing.

After 28 years as a primary school teacher, Gail became a published author. Gail has since published many books, and she now visits schools around the world to share her passion for storytelling.

During her visit to City Campus, Gail spent time with students introducing the characters in her books, sharing her work with the marine conservation charity Shark Guardian, and sharing top tips on how to get ideas and transform them into stories.

Queues formed at the end of the day as parents and children took turns to purchase Gail’s books and have them signed by the author herself.

Donna Stephens, Librarian shared, “Gail first visited us during the school’s founding year and we were delighted to have her back again at City Campus. Our students came to the Library throughout the day for a series of storytelling sessions with this fantastic author. Gail has inspired all of us to read, write, illustrate and imagine......which has perfectly complimented City Campus’s value of the month, Imagination.

The Library at City Campus organises author visits and many other book-related activities throughout all the school year, all designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading in our students.
