TERM 1 REVIEW 2019-20

NEW STAFF SETTLE IN

Following the doubling of its student population for the academic year 2019/20, City Campus is delighted to welcome an experienced and passionate cohort of new teachers to the school.

The teaching staff team sees growth of 50% this year, following the arrival of another outstanding contingent of primary and specialist teachers. The majority of our new teachers have joined City Campus from the UK, with others coming from British international schools in Singapore, Dubai and elsewhere in Bangkok.

As well as expanding its team of class teachers, City Campus is strengthening its specialist subject provision, through its recruitment of specialist teachers in PE, Music, Art, Design & Technology and Mandarin.

The recruitment of a specialist D&T Innovation Leader puts City Campus in a strong position in this subject field, making it the first school in Thailand to embark upon the UK-born DEC (Design, Engineer, Construct) programme. This programme is instrumental in educating the future of construction and changing the lives of young people. The introduction of DEC to our purpose-built D&T spaces will certainly inspire any future architects, engineers and surveyors at City Campus.

After a carefully planned induction week covering everything from health & safety to an introduction to Thai language & culture, the teachers also took time to prepare their teaching spaces and collaborate with colleagues, before the school gates open to students again next week.

Principal, Amanda Dennison explained, “I look for teachers who have passion and sparkle in their eyes. Teachers who have a proven track record of going the extra mile and being outstanding practitioners. Our teachers are creative and innovative in the delivery of inspiring lessons, which allows for collaboration and cooperation, while ensuring progression and high standards. I am delighted with our team of new recruits, and I am looking forward to seeing their expertise in practice with our students in years to come.”

At Shrewsbury, teachers are carefully selected via a rigorous recruitment process. All candidates are required to hold Qualified Teacher Status, with a minimum of three years’ teaching experience and an excellent working knowledge of the British Curriculum.
