Year 4 re-create the effects of hurricanes, floods and tornados.
To introduce their topic of Natural Disasters, Year 4's learning base was turned into a danger zone full of overturned furniture, no-go areas and piles of 'rubble'.
The scene was set to immerse and excite the children in their new topic, as they began to learn all about the effects of hurricanes, tornados, mudslides and floods in our world.
Students built and tested their own structures against the 'elements', before going on to safely recreate the ramifications of various natural disasters that have occurred both in Thailand and around the world.
At Shrewsbury, we teach a topic-based curriculum to give intrigue and meaning to all subjects that the children study. Our teachers use real-life contexts to bring learning to life.
