Children and teachers celebrate reading during Fully Booked 2019.

At City Campus, we love reading! Fully Booked 2019 was a week full of activities, which continued to inspire a lifelong love of reading in our students.

After lunch each day, everything stopped on campus for ERIC (Everyone Reading In Class). We hosted a three-day book fair, to give parents the opportunity to browse and buy new reading materials for the home. Families also took part in a book swap, allowing children to try new books, and pass their old books to new homes.

Parents and friends were warmly invited to an audience with Gail Clarke, published children’s author and illustrator. Gail also led storytelling workshops with all of our students during her visit.

To round off the week, the entire City Campus community dressed up as their favourite literary characters. Our children took part in a celebratory parade round the school, with favourite book in hand!

Our school librarian, Donna Stephens, concluded, "As Walt Disney says, 'There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island.' Well, every day of Fully Booked 2019 has been a true treasure. What an inspiring week it has been. As a library team, with continued support from our fantastic teachers, we have encouraged even more excitement about reading at Shrewsbury City Campus."
