SAFER INTERNET DAY WITH OUR DIGITAL LEAD - MR PROCTER

Today is Safer Internet Day, and we are joining schools across the world in recognising it.

Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on both children and adults to help to create a better internet.

Following our Digital Lead - Mr David Procter's Tea and Topics session on Digital Citizenship held for our parents, Digital Citizenship can be defined as the norms of appropriate and responsible behaviour with regard to technology and media use.

At Shrewsbury City Campus, we are embedding a Digital Citizenship Curriculum within our Personal, Social, Health and Economic ( PSHE ) lessons. All students need digital citizenship skills to participate fully in their communities and make smart choices online and in life.

A fundamental aspect of being digitally literate is the ability to be a responsible and safe user of technology and a critical consumer of digital media.  These skills and attitudes are nurtured as children use digital tools to make meaning through media production across the curriculum. Underpinning Digital Creativity is the Digital Citizenship curriculum which helps prepare children to take responsibility for living and learning in an interconnected digital world.
