Oppidan Education Brings Personalised Mentoring for IGCSE Subject Choices to Year 9 at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside

The Senior School at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside provides a world-leading education that enables students to flourish at school and beyond. In continuation of this purpose, the school has introduced our first-ever personalised 1:1 online mentoring programme for Year 9 students, in collaboration with Oppidan Education, an international academic mentoring company. This provides students with individualised guidance to support them in developing self-awareness and confidence as they prepare for important academic decisions ahead.

During the first of two 1:1 mentoring sessions, with a particular focus on oracy and self-awareness, students explored their interests and strengths, reflected on subjects they enjoy or find challenging, discussed future goals, and considered experiences of resilience, teamwork, and leadership. Rather than simply selecting IGCSE subjects, students were guided through a deeper process of self-awareness and future planning, helping them understand who they are as learners and how their choices connect to their long-term goals.

Guided by Oppidan Education’s COR framework: Character, Oracy, and Readiness, the programme has been co-constructed with pastoral leaders at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside to prepare students not only for IGCSE subject choices, but for the next stage of their educational journey and life beyond the classroom.
