A Wrap-Up of Our Collaboration with Shrewsbury School UK and Shrewsbury Asia – by Mr. Millar

Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside has a proud association with Shrewsbury School UK and strong connections to education and teaching in the UK.

Every year, members of the Senior Management Team travel to the UK to meet and interview the best UK-based candidates for any teaching roles in the school. This year, we travelled alongside Amanda Dennison, Head of City Campus and Priya Kanthan, Head of Shrewsbury Hong Kong, to share expertise and showcase the full range of opportunities that Shrewsbury offers in the region.

Whilst in the UK, we travelled to both London and Shrewsbury UK, to carry out interviews, from which we have selected and appointed an excellent group of teachers, ranging from a PSHE teacher who runs his own TikTok History channel to a Junior PE teacher who works every weekend to teach disadvantaged children football.

In London, we also marketed the school to teachers interested in international education at a job fair, attended a globally renowned educational technology fair to learn about the latest developments in technology and AI, visited award-winning schools, and met up with global experts and researchers who are collaborating with the school in areas like assessment.

In Shrewsbury UK, we took the time to connect with the leadership team there, in particular, Leo Winkley, the Head of Shrewsbury UK, fresh from winning a Head of the Year at the Tatler School’s Guide 2026 awards! We also met with the Heads of the Junior schools connected to Shrewsbury UK (Prestfelde, Packwood and Terra Nova), the team running the Shrewsbury School Summer School, as well as Carla Howart, one of Riverside’s governors. There was even time to visit other outstanding Junior schools in the area, one of which, Bolton School, we are collaborating with on an oracy project for students, and catch up with teacher alumni, including Mr. Holroyd and Mr. Baxter who I can report are both doing very well.
A busy schedule as ever, but one where we renewed bonds with the team at Shrewsbury UK, learnt the latest educational tips and tricks from a range of outstanding schools and practitioners, and appointed some brilliant staff to work in the school next academic year.
