Shrek The Musical brought an exciting wave of creativity, collaboration and school spirit to Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside. Over three unforgettable performances, more than 140 students came together across cast, orchestra, stage crew and production teams to showcase their talents and dedication in what became one of the school’s most celebrated productions.

A defining feature of the production was its spirit of vertical learning, with students from across the Senior School working together as one company. Older performers mentored younger cast members, sharing their experience in rehearsal discipline and stagecraft, while younger students brought energy and enthusiasm to the stage. Regardless of year group, the production reflected the strength of a community where students support and learn from one another.

On stage, colourful sets, imaginative costumes and lively ensemble numbers brought the world of Shrek to life. Familiar songs such as I’m a Believer sparked joyful sing-alongs, creating a celebratory atmosphere in which audiences and performers shared the excitement. The encouragement and support between students was shown throughout the journey, both during rehearsals and in every performance.

Behind the scenes, months of dedicated rehearsals laid the foundation for the show’s success. This process was further enriched through a collaboration with LITA Education, whose professional expertise helped elevate the production while giving students valuable insight into industry-level theatre practices.

The performances were also honoured by a visit from members of the Board of Governors, who joined the audience to celebrate the remarkable dedication and talent of the students and staff involved.

More than a musical, Shrek! The Musical reflected the vibrant creative culture at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside, a community that encourages students to explore their interests, discover their passions, and flourish both on stage and beyond the classroom.
