Newcastle University Offers Shrewsbury Riverside Students Insight into Top-Tier Academic Programmes and Vibrant Campus Life

Outstanding Opportunities Riverside Senior Riverside Sixth form SHR Article

Newcastle University, founded in 1834 and a founding member of the prestigious Russell Group, recently visited Shrewsbury International School Bangkok, offering students a glimpse into the vibrant life as a student in Newcastle. With a legacy of excellence in research and education, Newcastle University is known for its world-class teaching facilities and top-tier academic programmes.

Newcastle University excels in several key areas, including its Business School, which is ranked among the top 1% globally. It also holds the 3rd spot in the UK for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). Students benefit from a comprehensive range of support services, such as disability and specialist learning support, financial assistance, emergency loans, and round-the-clock security.

Accommodation costs range between £98–£120 per week, offering students affordable living options in the city. For international students, pre-arrival support, including airport pick-up, ensures a smooth transition to life in the UK. Health and wellbeing services are also available to ensure students’ mental and physical health is supported.

Newcastle is renowned for its affordable living compared to London – costs are approximately 65% lower, making it an attractive option for international students. As a bonus, Thai students can enjoy a £6,000 per year discount on tuition fees at Newcastle University. The city is a hub of student activity, offering a diverse range of clubs and societies. It was also mentioned that Newcastle University ranks in the top 10 in BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport), and a recent £30 million investment in the university gym further supports students’ fitness and wellbeing.

Overall, the visit provided valuable insight for students, helping them learn more about student life at Newcastle University, the variety of courses on offer, and whether the university is the right fit for them.

Thank you to Newcastle University for their visit and we look forward to providing students with more talks with some of the world’s best universities
