LITA Education London-Based Theatre Specialists at Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside: Inspiring Students Through Performance and Musical Theatre

article Riverside Drama SHR Article

LITA Education returned to Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside for a second visit, working with our Shrek the Musical cast and the entire Year 7 students during an intensive and inspiring week of rehearsals.

Led by Noel and James, the workshops were filled with infectious energy and professional expertise. They worked closely with the Shrek cast to stage scenes, develop characterisation, and add dynamic choreography to our upcoming Senior School production. Over the weekend, students worked tirelessly to master large-scale dance numbers, impressively developing new skills as they brought the show’s songs to life with creativity and high-energy movement.

Early in the week, Noel and James shifted their focus to Year 7, leading the whole year group in rehearsals for two numbers from Matilda the Musical. Having explored musical theatre in Drama lessons throughout the half-term, students were well prepared vocally and rose to the challenge of devising ideas, learning movement sequences, and performing as a cohesive ensemble. Their work culminated in performances of When I Grow Up and Revolting Children as part of a musical theatre showcase for parents.

Towards the end of the week, members of the school community were treated to a wonderful celebration of Shrewsbury talent. LITA Education compered the event, performed a number themselves, and praised students for their professionalism, commitment, and outstanding attitude throughout the week. The showcase featured heartfelt performances from Year 7, including Quiet and a powerful rendition of Revolting Children, before the Shrek cast gave a thrilling preview of their production with pitch-perfect ballads, high-octane ensemble numbers, and a rousing finale.

Head of Drama, Kay Sanders, described the week as “a hive of creativity,” adding that it had been “a joy to work with LITA Education again.” She noted that the entire community had been buzzing with energy and expressed her enthusiasm for continuing the partnership, allowing even more Shrewsbury students to enjoy such memorable, confidence-building experiences.
