Junior Chamber Choir and String Quartet Perform at Capella Bangkok

article Our Spotlight Outstanding Opportunities Riverside Junior Riverside Music SHR Article

Last Wednesday, our school’s Junior Chamber Choir and String Quartet had the fantastic opportunity to showcase their musical talents at the world’s best hotel – Capella Bangkok. With a collective of 35 students from Year 4 – 6 performing on the night, it was tremendous to see these students flourish in a new environment, adding to the broad spectrum of opportunities and experiences we offer at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside that help children on a continued journey of personal development and growth.

The performance, which we would recommend you watch by clicking on the video above, took place in front of the Chao Phraya River providing a stunning riverside backdrop for our young performers. Attracting the attention of more than 100 guests at the event, our students walked onto their stage with confidence and readiness due to the thorough training and preparation that took place prior to the event, impressing the crowd with their etiquette, musical ability and juniority on the night.

Capella’s Event Executive, Prim, was exceptionally pleased by the showcase offered by our students and explained that “events like this enhance the hotel’s values of cultural enrichment while creating a unique and meaningful experience for guests”. As a school, we can wholeheartedly say that it has been a privilege to work in association with Capella Bangkok and work with a business that aligns with our commitment to offering dynamic and new cultural experiences.

Music teacher Rowena Calvert said that “students dealt with the unexpected brilliantly”, as she explained that “in all performance situations, there are many unforeseen distractions such as lights, noise and more”, and concluding that “overall, students had an excellent all-round experience, all while having a lot of fun together!”.

Well done to all of our performers and a special thank you to the academic and support staff who were involved in making this event come to life!

Coming up, this week we look forward to hosting our Last Night of the Proms signature event which will take place on Thursday 7th November. Tickets for this are still available by clicking here.
