Hanqing Bilingual Pathway Connects Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus and Shrewsbury Hong Kong Together
Hanqing Bilingual Pathway HQP Highlights Our Spotlight SHC StoryIn a first-of-its-kind initiative for Shrewsbury International Asia, the Hanqing Bilingual Pathway (HQP) is now being delivered across two campuses, Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus and Shrewsbury Hong Kong, through an extraordinary level of collaboration.
At the heart of this partnership are Ms Luna Cao, HQP Chinese Principal at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok City Campus, and Ms Sophie Che, HQP Chinese Principal at Shrewsbury Hong Kong. Together, they are shaping a unified bilingual programme that is consistent, connected and rooted in Shrewsbury’s shared values.
“We work as one team,” both HQP Principals said. “Although we are in different locations, our planning, our pedagogy and even our teacher training are aligned.”

A Shared Foundation
The Hanqing Bilingual Pathway at both Shrewsbury International School Bangkok City Campus and Shrewsbury Hong Kong is built on the same educational framework. From programme design to staffing models, the HQP teams mirror one another closely:
- Joint programme design ensures consistency across locations
- Identical teaching models including a co-teaching structure of one English and one Chinese teacher per class
- Shared teacher training builds alignment in approach, quality and outcomes
This means a child entering HQP at either campus will benefit from the same high standards and vision, while still being enriched by their local context.
Cross-Campus Collaboration
Collaboration isn’t just a concept; it’s part of everyday practice at HQP. Teachers across both campuses regularly:
- Meet virtually to align lesson plans
- Share teaching practices
- Discuss programme development to support one another
“Almost every day, Sophie and I are in contact,” said Ms Cao, HQP Chinese Principal at City Campus. “And the same is true for our teaching teams.”

Learning from Each Other
While the two campuses are aligned, they also learn from one another’s strengths:
- Shrewsbury Hong Kong brings deep expertise in Mandarin language teaching, supporting Bangkok teachers in refining their Mandarin programme
- Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus, with its trilingual context (English-Mandarin-Thai), brings valuable experience in integrating Thai into the language mix and supporting multicultural learners
“We absorb each other’s strengths,” explained Ms Che, HQP Chinese Principal at Hong Kong. “It’s a constant exchange that strengthens both campuses.”
Connected Classrooms
As the Hanqing Bilingual Pathway grows, so do the opportunities for cross-campus student collaboration. Plans include:
- Pen-pal programmes between Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus and Hong Kong students
- Virtual classroom connections
- Joint projects to build cultural understanding and peer-to-peer learning
“We want our students to feel they’re part of something bigger,” said Ms Cao, HQP Chinese Principal at City Campus. “Not just one campus, but one shared bilingual journey.

A Unified Vision for Shrewsbury International Asia
What makes the Hanqing Bilingual Pathway collaboration so powerful is its shared purpose: to prepare children to thrive as bilingual, biliterate and globally minded individuals.
Supported by Shrewsbury International Asia’s commitment to excellence, the teams in Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus and Hong Kong are pioneering a new model of bilingual education together.
“Shrewsbury Asia always pursues academic excellence and whole child development,” both HQP Chinese Principals emphasised. “We welcome all opportunities and are always improving, so good things will keep happening!”
