Resilience: A Skill for Life
SHC Article SHC Principle's BlogAs we came to the end of Term 2, we reflected on a value that sits at the heart of a child’s growth: Resilience. More than simply “bouncing back”, resilience is the quiet strength that helps children keep going, even when something feels difficult, unfamiliar, or doesn’t go as planned the first time.

At Shrewsbury Bangkok City Campus, we see resilience in action every day. It is in the child who keeps trying to solve a Maths problem after several attempts, learning that mistakes are part of the process. It is in the student who stands up to present their ideas, even when they feel nervous, growing in confidence each time. It is also in the friendships we build, as children learn to navigate disagreements, listen to others, and try again with kindness and understanding.

These everyday moments matter. They help our children understand that success does not always come straight away, and that perseverance often leads to the most meaningful achievements. Life is not always easy, and there will be challenges along the way. By developing resilience from an early age, we give children the tools to face uncertainty, overcome setbacks, and approach the future with confidence.
At school and at home, when we encourage children to keep going, to reflect, and to try again, we are helping to build strong, capable individuals who are ready to thrive beyond the classroom.
