Imagination is Key to the Future

SHC Article SHC Principle's Blog SHC Teacher

At Shrewsbury International School Bangkok City Campus, imagination is more than just creativity – it is the key to the future. This November, we celebrate the curiosity and courage that allow our students to dream, explore, and create.

A shining example of imagination in action was our recent DEC Awards, where we welcomed back our alumni students, now thriving in Year 7 at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside, to receive their awards for designing a “home for everyone” as part of our Design Technology curriculum. This project required them to combine creativity, knowledge, and collaboration.

They had to think imaginatively about how to meet the needs of different people, solve real-world problems, and design solutions that were both practical and inclusive. The result was a remarkable demonstration of how imagination, when paired with learning and teamwork, can bring meaningful ideas to life.

Imagination also drives our school forward. Earlier this year, we announced our new pathway of learning – the Hanqing Bilingual Pathway (HQP), a pathway which places equal focus on Mandarin and English. Today, our HQP has reached its 100-day milestone with success. From the very beginning, we believed in our strategic education model. By imagining, planning, and strategising together, we turned vision into action and launched the academic year with purpose and achievement.

When students are encouraged to imagine boldly, they also develop confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills. They learn to see challenges from different perspectives and approach the world with curiosity and creativity – essential qualities for shaping the future. When students are encouraged to imagine boldly, they also develop confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills. As a school community, we are proud to see imagination in action, from classroom projects to school-wide initiatives. After all, every great achievement begins with a dream – and imagination is the key that unlocks it.
