EY2 Exhibition: Making Learning Visible
SHC Early years SHC StoryLearning in the Early Years is found in the questions children ask, the ideas they build together, and the meaningful journeys they take as curious young learners.
This year, our EY2 Exhibition invited families into those journeys as our children proudly shared their Long-Term Projects developed throughout the academic year. The exhibition celebrated not only what children learned, but how they learned.
The Reggio Emilia Approach
Our Early Years provision at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok City Campus is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which views children as capable, curious and competent learners.
Rather than delivering predetermined topics, our teachers carefully observe children’s interests, questions and interactions, allowing learning to emerge naturally and meaningfully. Children become researchers and co-constructors of knowledge, exploring ideas through what Reggio Emilia describes as the “Hundred Languages of a Child” — drawing, movement, storytelling, construction, play, and many more forms of expression.

Learning Through Long-Term Projects
Our Long-Term Projects give children opportunities to revisit ideas over time, encouraging deeper thinking and curiosity. Rather than moving quickly from one topic to another, children are given the time and space to investigate, question and develop their understanding.
Throughout the year, our EY2 children experienced many benefits:
Developing critical thinking skills: Children learned to observe, question, predict, test ideas and solve problems independently.
Building communication and language: Discussions and collaborative investigations naturally expanded vocabulary and confidence.
Strengthening relationships and collaboration: Children shared ideas and worked together to create meaning.
Growing confidence and independence: Children began to see themselves as capable learners, researchers and thinkers.
Each class followed its own unique activities inspired by children’s fascinations and discoveries. From exploring mark-making and scientific enquiry to investigating community, storytelling and creative expression, every journey looked different, yet a common thread connected them all: children were empowered to lead, explore and discover.

Every Play Experience is Intentional
While children lead many aspects of their learning journey, our highly qualified teachers play a vital role in carefully shaping and extending these experiences.
Throughout the year, our teachers closely observed children’s interests. Thoughtfully planned provocations, meaningful materials, targeted questions and ongoing documentation helped transform moments of curiosity into rich learning experiences.
What may appear to be simple play is, in fact, deeply purposeful learning

Making Learning Visible Exhibition
The EY2 Exhibition was not simply a display of artwork or projects. It was a celebration of children’s voices, ideas and growth over an entire year.
Walking through the exhibition, families could see evidence of learning made visible: photographs, documentation, conversations, creations and the thinking behind them.
At Shrewsbury International School Bangkok City Campus, we believe the strongest foundations for lifelong learning begin in the Early Years.
Because the earliest years are not simply preparation for school — they are where the journey begins.
