TERM 2 REVIEW 2019-20

VARSITY TOUCH RUGBY SIDE KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR IN STYLE

It was quieter week than usual at Shrewsbury as we ease into the New Year and the second term of the academic year. That said, there were a few events throughout the week that saw Shrewsbury athletes in action against local competition. The fixtures list also picks up this week with a number of football matches.

The first side to compete in 2020 was the girls Touch Rugby Varsity team who prevailed in hard-fought battle against St. Andrews 8-3. The score line wasn’t indicative of how close the contest actually was with the girls having to focus for the entirety of the clash to get over the try line and pick up the result the were after.

Victories were also welcomed by the U13 and U15 Badminton sides who overcame the visitors from Bangkok Prep. Coach Paul Atherton was pleased with his charges for keeping the momentum going from Term 1 as it is always difficult to come back from a long break.

With many of the Senior School away on residential trips this week the Junior School sports teams will take control of the sporting landscape starting with two mini football tournaments both held at Riverside for U11’s and U9’s. A number of sides from around Bangkok will be attending and we are looking forward to a high standard of play. Focus will be on participation and enjoyment as our next generation footballers take to the field. We will keep you updated.
