Equity Partnership Season 3 Starts off With a Bang

The third season of our Equity Partnership got off to a fantastic start this year with the first Product Development Hybrid Workshop between Shrewsbury and our partner school in Khon Kaen taking place on the first weekend of October, and our groups of students producing some brilliant initial designs.

The Equity Partnership, now ingrained into the Sixth Form co-curriculum, is a project that assists students in public schools in ten provinces to monetise the abundant resources in their region and learn entrepreneurial skills that they can take with them in their further studies.

Shrewsbury students act as mentors, ensuring that those in disadvantaged communities can provide for themselves and maintain this stability into the future. After a product is decided on, teams utilise the invaluable connections to schools such as Shrewsbury. These ideas are further developed into genuine products for sale.

Students have continuously worked hard alongside Krabi and Prachuap Kiri Khan schools, developing ideas for their next product to sell. After designing these products, students discussed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that may come alongside each one. Colour schemes, logo designs and digital storytelling were also considered.

Workshop two took place on the weekend of the 30th of October, with the help of Khun Guitar (left), who worked with students on both their branding and digital marketing. Students also considered how to elevate their products for the global marketplace of Shopee to benefit further the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) funded schools in Central Thailand, which we are supporting.

The final goods will be on sale online in December on the Shopee website, and all proceeds will go to the EEF to be redistributed to participating schools. Considering our students' extensive progress, we are looking forward to the undoubted benefits that stem from this partnership. These primarily consist of the increased income and stability that underprivileged communities will gain across Thailand and the rewarding experience Shrewsbury students obtain through each workshop.
