Battle of the Bands 2024

article Exceptional People Our Spotlight Outstanding Opportunities Riverside Junior Riverside Senior Riverside Sixth form SHR Article SHR Upcoming event

It all began with a long audition process at the start of the year, where over 100 eager students signed up, hoping to secure a spot in one of the school bands. From those auditions, 8 new bands were formed, adding to the 4 existing ones, making a total of 12 bands in the Senior School

Over the past 11 weeks, these bands have worked tirelessly, rehearsing, perfecting, and fine-tuning their performances for the big contest. With an incredible panel of judges, including Chris Craker, Adam Hunter, star alumnus Tytan, and producer TBZ of “411 Music Group,” the event was set to be an unforgettable show of talent and dedication.

To support the organisation of this event, Ms Yesik introduced a new leadership programme involving Sixth Form students. These students took on the responsibility of managing bands, organising rehearsals, assisting with song selections, offering musical advice, and developing their leadership skills in the process. The band managers, Ella, Jelly, Pim Pim, Tarm, Coco and Yuki played a key role in the success of the event and will continue to work with their bands in future events.

A big thank you to the students who participated in the competition. Your dedication was evident in every aspect, from your preparation, from attending rehearsals to the time and effort you devoted outside of school, whether in selecting your outfits or practising your parts at home.

Let’s congratulate the bands for their incredible achievements: The Craftsmen, who took 3rd place; Mitochondria, who claimed 2nd place; and Rolling Storms, the ultimate winners of the night! All three bands won free studio time generously offered by one of our judges. Additionally, the 1st place band, Rolling Storms, will have the amazing opportunity to performing at CentralWorld Mall on Sunday 19th January 2025, so feel free to come and support!
