Tiny Sprout: Jane and Nara Class of 2014
Alumni article Exceptional People Our Spotlight SHR ArticleFrom Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside to Gold: Alumni Win Prestigious Design Award for Social Impact.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievement of two of our alumni, Jane (Jantrakarn Darwin) and Nara (Nara Vajaphattana), Class of 2014. Their innovative project, the Tiny Sprouts Education Platform, has just won the Gold Award at the IDZ Berlin UX Concept Award 2025.

The Spark of an Idea
The idea for Tiny Sprouts was born from Jane’s firsthand experience of teaching English in an underserved community in Phuket. She witnessed the daily challenges faced by students and teachers: a lack of resources, limited classroom support, and few opportunities for creative learning. Determined to make a difference, Jane envisioned a platform that could bridge those gaps and open doors for children who needed it most.

From Vision to Design
To bring this vision to life, Jane partnered with her classmate and fellow alumna, Nara, an award-winning UX Designer and Founder of MiUX Studio. Nara is globally recognised for her work in interface design, accessibility-focused UX, and human-centred digital experiences, with honours from FWA, CSS Design Awards, Awwwards, and IDZ nominations. She has also led inclusive design initiatives, including a sign language learning app with Accenture Consulting.
With Jane’s passion for education and Nara’s expertise in design, the two transformed a bold idea into a tangible, award-winning platform.

Tiny Sprouts: Big Impact
Tiny Sprouts provides safe, engaging virtual classrooms that connect students with global volunteers. More than just an educational tool, it is a testament to what collaboration and purpose-driven innovation can achieve. The platform not only provides essential learning resources but also inspires children to see new possibilities for their future.

An Inspiration for Our Community
Jane and Nara’s journey reflect the values of resilience, creativity, and social responsibility that lie at the heart of a Shrewsbury education. Their achievement is a source of immense pride for our school and a powerful reminder to current students of how education can be used as a force for good.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Jane and Nara on this remarkable accomplishment.
