Thinking Futures With Our Year 11 Families
article Exceptional People Our Spotlight Outstanding Opportunities Riverside Senior Riverside Sixth form SHR ArticleOn Tuesday 29th October we warmly welcomed students and their families to our Year 11 Futures Event which included a presentation from Sixth Form staff, an afternoon tea and open house visits to departments in our Sixth Form Commons, giving our Year 11 community ample opportunity to discuss questions and queries about the upcoming transition process.
The presentation gave insight into the differences between the courses on offer here at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside, and gave staff the chance to discuss parent-student influence when choosing these. One of the Head of Senior – Mrs Sonya Papps’ biggest takeaways was telling students to “leverage to their strengths” and “make wise choices” as she also reminded students that not every successful destination requires a placement at university.
After the presentation, families visited the Higher Education Team and the departments of subjects their child might be interested in pursuing. This provided an opportunity to ask questions regarding subject combinations for specific courses and access to various countries and destinations with our specialist staff. Additional support was also provided to those interested in studying medical degrees in Thailand and abroad.
Overall, the event was a wonderful opportunity to discuss our students’ interests and aspirations as well as empower others who may not be so sure about which pathway to take into Higher Education just yet.
We look forward to supporting our students as they navigate this important transition and take their next steps toward a future of success.
