We’re proud to share that Jellanai (Jelly) Tongpaitoon will be heading to New York University (NYU) this autumn to begin the Liberal Studies Program. This unique course allows students to explore a wide range of subjects including film, journalism, English, and art history before selecting a concentration in their third year.

Jelly was drawn to the program because of her passion for the humanities and creative arts, and her desire to keep her academic journey open and exploratory.
“I wanted to study many things… this program allows me to explore them on a wider scale,” she says.
Her love for storytelling, especially through film, and her interest in the connections between art, history, and current affairs have shaped her academic direction. School experiences played a big role too drama productions, music, and literature classes helped her develop a deeper appreciation for the arts and the collaborative work behind the scenes.

As she looks ahead, Jelly is most excited about immersing herself in the culture and creativity of New York City.
“It’s a city that, like Bangkok, is so rich with culture and art and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
We wish Jelly all the best as she embarks on this exciting new chapter!
