Children in Year 2 have been busy in the kitchen, learning how to make banquet food that would be fit for any King or Queen!
As a school, we are passionate about giving children the opportunity to explore all kinds of activities, to provide both exercise and rest, relaxation and excitement beyond the academic environment. City Campus hosts a vast array of You-Time activities, covering areas such as sport, music, creative arts, technology, languages, wellbeing and much more. It is not surprising that both staff and students are very excited that the programme is back up and running!
Over the past few weeks we have worked towards developing a safe programme so our students can take part in You-Time once more. Whilst in previous years You-Time clubs were open to children across the school, to keep everyone safe, clubs are now being held within year groups. Whilst we miss the cross-year group interaction, it has also been a wonderful opportunity for You-Time activities to be completely focused towards specific age groups and their interests.
From Chinese paper art to Forest School, robotics to basketball, and dance to show choir, there is something for everybody! Shrewsbury’s co-curricular programme is designed to allow students to explore their interests and to develop skills outside of the classroom. These opportunities can help contextualise and reinforce learning in the classroom, and further develop communication, collaboration and leadership skills.
Mr Silva and the You-Time team have worked incredibly hard to safely restart the programme. You-Time is often regarded as one of the best times of the school day for our children, and it is wonderful to have it back!
