Our very first Tea and Topics event saw our Recital Hall filled to the brim with Shrewsbury City Campus parents.
This term’s fully-booked Tea and Topics event explored ‘Positive Parenting’, The session was presented by our Principal, Ms Amanda Dennison, Vice Principal; Ms Fiona Betts, Learning Mentor Ms Gii; and Leading Teaching Assistant Ms Taz.
Our parents joined us to reflect on their own parenting adventure, and to learn more about continuing our positive parenting approaches every day with our wonderful children.
In the past, Shrewsbury families have expressed an interest in a number of topics when it comes to parenting. At this Tea and Topics, Ms Dennison and Ms Betts led discussion on parenting strategies, remaining positive when times are tough, and the all-important issue of screen time! We must say a big ‘well done’ to our parents for being excellent role models and turning off your phones during the event!
At Shrewsbury City Campus, it is a joy for us to have parents who are so willing to participate and share during these sessions. We gave out gold stars to acknowledge some truly fantastic contributions.
Tea and Topics provides a valuable opportunity for our parents to gather together to share their thoughts with one another. One parent commented, “It was very helpful to talk with other Shrewsbury City parents. With our children, sometimes we have good days, sometimes we have not so good days, but it is reassuring to share experiences and to be reminded that we are all in the same boat!”
Parents, thank you very much for coming to Tea and Topics: Positive Parenting. These events book up quickly, so please look out for more Tea and Topics events coming up in 2019.
