Highlights from our first full month in action, and details of upcoming events at City Campus and elsewhere.
Dear Parents and Friends,
I hope you are all well and feel settled into school life at City Campus.
It has been just over a month since we opened and such a lot has happened in that short space of time. The absolute best thing has been seeing the children settle so positively and so quickly into school life, enjoying their learning, making friends and really making our school feel like a happy place to be.
We have celebrated Wai Kru and Peace Day, dove tailing beautifully into our assemblies based around our value of Respect. Our new value focus for October is ‘Kindness’ and the children will find out why they all received a starfish when they joined the school…..
We are very proud of our children.
We have launched Parent Portal where we post all our letters and information; as you will read there are many upcoming events planned to share information and bring the community together.
Many thanks to those of you who have volunteered to be our founding Class Reps; a very important role. We look forward to meeting you all next week and working with you over the course of our first year.
City Campus ‘Open House’ takes place each Friday morning; prospective families have the opportunity to come and meet us and have a tour of the school.
Many thanks for inviting your friends to join us, many of whom have applied for their children to join the school.
On that note we are currently in full swing with our EY1 19 assessments and we predict that by the end of October if not before, all our places will have been offered. For your information we are continuing to meet families and assess children who would like to join us this academic year.
Thank you so much for all your kind words over our first month in operation, your support and continued patience is so much appreciated by all our staff team.
We look forward to seeing you at our various parent events over the next few weeks and beyond.
Take great care,
Principal, Amanda Dennison
Updates from this month in pictures
Opening Ceremony
On the 31st August, Shrewsbury International School City Campus celebrated the official grand opening ceremony. We were honoured to have His Excellency Brian Davidson, the British Ambassador to be part of our ceremony and share our celebration. He is a real advocate for our school.
We would like to say thank you to all our founding families and special guests for helping us to celebrate this significant event. It was a great success.
SHC You-Time Activities Programme
After our children settled smoothly into school life, we launched our “You-Time” activities programme. The children were very excited to choose and participate in a wide range of activities including cooking, football, and the Scouts.
Our after school activities will offer all the children the opportunity to explore and learn a new interest. Our programme will develop and grow as we get to know our children.
Wai Kru Ceremony
At the beginning of this month, we held one of the most important traditional Thai ceremonies - Wai Kru. The ceremony takes place at the beginning of each academic year to mark a perfect start to the year.
It was a very heartwarming moment for the teachers when their students presented them with flowers as a mark of deep respect and gratitude.
Congratulating our sister school - Shrewsbury Riverside
Our students always make us proud. Congratulations and well done to all our hardworking A-Level and IGCSE students for getting an outstanding set of results. With these remarkable results, students are now off to the best universities in the world.
Library Updates
While we wait for our amazing library to be ready, we offer our children a ‘Pop Up' library. It is filled with lots of beautifully illustrated pictures books, the latest series of chapter books (for intermediate readers) and informative non-fiction texts.
Students have been enjoying visiting the library, listening to stories and reading to our puppets!
Our library is scheduled to be completed shortly after half term and then it will be fully kitted out with furnishings and of course books! We will involve the children in the development of some of the spaces and have a grand official opening….
