News and pictures from City Campus in March 2019.
Dear Parents and Friends,
We have had a wonderful few weeks filled with so many exciting events and memorable moments. We really brought to life our value of the month ‘Creativity’ across so many domains.
Our first ever ‘Book Week’ was fantastic with many exciting events that sparked reading interest and good habits as well as a fun Character Parade enjoyed by all.
We have hosted three important events in our community to showcase and promote what we value as part of a Shrewsbury education. Our ‘Sustainability’ themed Farm Fest focused on healthy lifestyles and was enjoyed by over 300 families; Our ‘Colours of Spring Concert’ demonstrated our commitment to excellence through music and our hosting of the BISAC swim meet was a wonderful event - positively building our community and friendships across Bangkok.
We have also had visitors sharing their expertise and knowledge with our children and with our parents, Karin Littlewood and Gail Clarke; wonderful inspiring children’s authors. Janine Carroll, an expert in the field of Restorative Approaches. Grin Green and Precious Plastic Bangkok also supported our learning during ‘Sustainability’ week which was led and inspired by our very own Ms Katy Waring.
Parents also enjoyed a glitzy sparkling cocktail party which was hosted by our Riverside Parents - a wonderful evening was had by all, adding to our strong cross campus collaboration.
We certainly have had a marvelous month in March!
Our new value focus for April is ‘Honesty’...Be honest with your friends and thank them for being honest with you…...we will be exploring this value more in our assemblies.
We are looking forward to our Songkran celebrations next week and to a well deserved holiday for all.
Take great care,
Principal, Amanda Dennison

Key Stage 2: Volcanoes, Hokusai Art and Taiwanese Bamboo Dancing
At Shrewsbury, we provide a topic-based approach based on the British National Curriculum. The curriculum objectives are taught through a range of inspiring topics that encourage the children to be creative. Key Stage 1: School Assembly, Measuring, and Kings & Queens
We were very proud of 1GH as they took to the stage to lead a school assembly. Our children told us all about what they had been learning in last term’s topic of Africa.
For this term’s topic of Space, Year 1 have been learning their fractions by counting stars, and measuring the capacity of space sand in different containers.
In Year 2, their Kings and Queens topic came alive as they used drama strategies to understand thoughts and feelings of royal characters in a story. The children also designed their very own coats of arms!
Early Years: Let's Be Sustainable!
This month, we learnt about how we can look after the beautiful country of Thailand. To find out more about waste and recycling , we filled our beautiful outdoor area with single-use plastic items we had collected at home. Our children and parents worked together help to pick it all up and sort it into piles for reuse.
We had visits from local environmental organisations Grin Green and Precious Precious Bangkok. We saw how plastic and other items can be reused, and guests had the chance to purchase zero waste alternatives for the home.

Parents in Partnership: Janine Carroll
How do we build effective friendships? How can we best resolve conflict when it happens?
Our Shrewsbury City Campus community enjoyed an exclusive audience with Janine Carroll, an internationally accredited expert in the field of restorative facilitation and the growth of healthy communities
Our children discussed what they felt makes a good friend, and how our emotions can affect our relationships. We learnt how to speak assertively without hurting someone’s feelings and how to support our friends if there is a disagreement. Janine’s visit was exceedingly fruitful for us all.
Music: Outstanding Performances at 'Colours of Spring' Piano Recital
Our Shrewsbury community and our special guests were treated to a wonderfully musical afternoon at our 'Colours of Spring' piano recital.
