SAVE THE ONE - SONG INSPIRED BY OUR STARFISH STORY

Our assembly last week was all about spreading kindness, and our Principal, Ms Amanda Dennison, retold a story about "Starfish" - the creature that has become a foundational symbol for our Shrewsbury City Campus community. The story highlights that smaller acts of kindness can make a big difference.

For this occasion, our friends from Ex Cathedra - the UK's leading choir and early music ensemble led by Ms Rebecca Ledgard, Director of Education & Participation, and her team, who visited us a few years ago, have written an original song inspired by our "Starfish" story!

The song is called “Save the One” and our school community sang this touching song together.

We invite you to join us too. Let's sing it loud and proud!

Lyrics: “Save the One”

When you look out on the shore,

And see starfish score on score,

Lying helpless in the sun.

As you try to find the strength

And take the world upon your shoulders.

You despair and think your work is never done.

Remember, there may be a thousand,

There may be a million.

Don’t try to save the million,

Save the One.

In the sea and on the shore,

We find plastics more and more,

From a world that’s overrun.

As you try to find the strength

And take the world upon your shoulders,

You despair and think your work is never done.

Remember, there may be a thousand,

There may be a million.

Don’t try to save the million,

Save the One.

So no matter how we try,

We can’t set the world to rights alone.

Together we can face the challenge,

See the task begin,

And we can try to save the million.

Save the One.

Remember, there may be a thousand,

There may be a million.

Don’t try to save the million,

Save the One.

And we can try to save the million

Start with one.
