Early Years Curriculum at Hanqing Bilingual Pathway
HQP offers a balanced approach to bilingual learning by integrating Chinese and British educational approaches. This bilingual pathway’s curriculum is designed to develop fluency in both English and Mandarin, foster bicultural understanding, and ignite a passion for learning through play-based, language immersion, and project-based methodologies.
Language Immersion: This bilingual pathway employs a 50/50 English and Mandarin language immersion model in the Early Years. From Year 1 onwards, it features native-speaking teachers for both English and Mandarin, along with a specialist Chinese Math teacher. This approach ensures that children have ample opportunities to develop their language skills in authentic environments.
Cultural Integration: HQP incorporates Chinese culture into the curriculum through various activities like traditional festivals and Chinese cultural heritage classes, including martial arts, calligraphy, and painting. This helps children develop a strong understanding and appreciation for both Chinese and Western cultures.
Play-Based and Project-Based Learning: HQP curriculum utilises play-based learning, recognising the importance of play in early childhood development. Children engage in hands-on exploration to develop creativity, problem-solving abilities, and social-emotional intelligence. Project-based learning encourages in-depth exploration of topics, allowing children to develop skills like research, collaboration, and communication.
Individualised Attention: HQP teachers are committed to supporting each child’s unique learning journey. They provide individualised attention and differentiated instruction to ensure all students can reach their full potential.
