Last Night of the Proms: A British Tradition Inspired by The Elements
article Our Spotlight Riverside Music SHR ArticleThe most anticipated night on our school calendar, Last Night of the Proms, returned in spectacular style as one of Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside’s defining signature events, bringing together students, families, and the wider community in a celebration of musical excellence and community spirit.

A Journey Through the Elements
A much-loved British tradition at our school, Last Night of the Proms continues to reflect our commitment to musical excellence. Inspired by The Elements, this year’s programme guided audiences through earth, wind, fire, and water. From the grounding strength of earth to the freedom of wind, the intensity of fire, and the fluidity of water, each performance conveyed a distinct emotional depth, resonating powerfully with the audience.

Musical Excellence Beyond the Classroom
Performances spanned a wide range of ensembles and styles, reflecting the depth of musical talent across the school. Inside the Memorial Hall, the full symphony orchestra and massed choirs performed alongside dramatic readings by Music and Drama Scholars. Across the campus, Junior and Senior jazz ensembles, rock bands and acoustic groups contributed to a vibrant atmosphere, culminating in a fireworks finale accompanied by an original composition from an A Level Music Technology student.

A Community United Through Music
This signature event reflects the strength of our community, where students collaborate across year groups within a supportive environment shaped by dedicated teachers and a strong parent community. Through dedication, discipline and creativity, music becomes a powerful pathway for students to grow, express themselves and achieve excellence.

The evening also celebrated both Thai and British musical heritage, culminating in a gala dinner followed by a fireworks display.

“This year’s Last Night of the Proms: The Elements was a truly spectacular showcase of musical talent across the whole school. The excellence achieved by our students reflects not only their dedication and hard work, but also the outstanding calibre of the music programme at Shrewsbury. The outdoor post‑concert celebration was, as always, brilliant – a fantastic opportunity for our entire community to come together and share in the joy of student success.”
