Into the Wonder: Junior Film Festival 2026

article Our Spotlight Outstanding Opportunities Riverside Junior SHR Article

Lights, camera, action! Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside recently hosted the Junior Film Festival 2026, Into the Wonder, welcoming Years 4, 5 and 6 alongside parents for a spectacular evening dedicated to storytelling, creativity and student film-making.

Built around this year’s magical theme, the festival showcased the incredible effort, imagination and collaboration behind each film production. From developing storylines and exploring creative perspectives to acting, editing, sound design and voiceovers, students took ownership of every stage of the filmmaking process.

The Film curriculum in Years 4–6 is founded on the belief that storytelling is one of the most powerful ways children make sense of the world. By providing authentic opportunities to express ideas and explore perspectives, the curriculum nurtures communication, curiosity and creative thinking in meaningful ways.

The evening captured the atmosphere of a true film premiere, with themed decorations, live music performances from the Music Department, food vendors and interactive photo backdrops welcoming guests before the screenings began. Families and guests then gathered to watch the films alongside an esteemed panel of judges from the film and creative industries.

We were honoured to welcome award-winning director, animator, and digital artist Virpi Kettu; alumna and Miss Global Thailand 2025 Saffron Maya Snook; Thai voice-over artist and acting instructor Vin Kridakorn; film producer Cha Patra-Yanan; actress Saimai Maneerat Thammaneewong; cameraman Stephen Andrews; actor Damien Molony; and hair and makeup artist Sophie Etell, whose presence made the evening even more memorable for our young film-makers.

Awards were presented across multiple categories, including Year Group Best Film, Best Sound & SFX, Best Voiceover, Best Actor/Actress, and Best Overall Film, celebrating the creativity, dedication, and achievements of all involved.
