Higher Education Team Visits Leading Universities Across the USA

Ms Sonya Papps (Vice-Principal, Head of Senior), Mr Dom Mochan (Director of Higher Education) and Mr Siv Somchanhmavong (Associate Director of Higher Education), recently completed their American universities tour across the United States, visiting leading universities and reconnecting with Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside alumni currently studying abroad.
Throughout the trip, the team visited a wide range of institutions including Princeton University, the University of Michigan, Purdue University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Indiana University Bloomington, Washington University in St. Louis, Georgia Tech, Emory University, Wake Forest University, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Duke University, Washington and Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, the University of Virginia and the University of Notre Dame.
A key focus of the trip was university engagement and exploration, providing opportunities to meet admission representatives, attend information sessions and gain deeper insights into a diverse range of academic environments across the US. Alongside this, the team also reconnected with our alumni currently studying in the US, many of whom generously welcomed staff onto campus, shared their experiences, and offered first-hand insight into university life abroad. From discussions around choosing majors and academic pathways to conversations about internships, student opportunities, and life beyond the classroom, the tour offered a meaningful glimpse into the exciting journeys our alumni are pursuing.
The team explored campuses ranging from world-renowned engineering facilities and research laboratories to highly regarded liberal arts institutions. These visits continue to strengthen the school’s understanding of the evolving higher education landscape and support future students considering university pathways in the United States.
The tour reflected the strength of the Shrewsbury Bangkok Riverside community, one that continues long after students leave school, with alumni across the world remaining closely connected to the community that continues to grow long after graduation.
