Exceptional People: Kawin’s Acceptance into UC Berkeley’s M.E.T. Programme
Alumni Exceptional People Riverside Sixth form SHR ArticleKawin received his acceptance letter in February, and with it came a wave of excitement that still hasn’t subsided—he’ll be heading to UC Berkeley this autumn as part of the prestigious Management, Entrepreneurship, and Technology (M.E.T.) programme. With an acceptance rate of approximately 2% and an annual intake of just 50 students, this is a significant achievement.
For those unfamiliar, the M.E.T. programme allows students to pursue a unique path, earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees—one from the College of Engineering and another from the Haas School of Business.
Kawin will concentrate on Industrial Engineering & Operations Research (IEOR) in conjunction with Business Administration. This combination aligns with his passion for inventing and designing ways to analyse and improve complex systems, informing business strategy and operations. His goal is to help industry and government leaders make better decisions that save time and resources, and improve processes to create a better world.
“This incredible opportunity wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support system that helped me navigate the college application process,” Kawin shared.
The Higher Education team’s guidance throughout the application process was invaluable to Kawin. Their expertise and encouragement kept him focused and motivated, from brainstorming essay topics to meticulously reviewing applications.
Additionally, Kawin is grateful to his teachers for their commitment to their subjects, which fostered a love of learning and provided him with the solid academic foundation needed to succeed in a demanding programme like M.E.T.
Ultimately, the school’s collaborative spirit significantly contributed to Kawin’s remarkable achievement. It is this type of collaborative environment that he looks forward to replicating at UC Berkeley.
In addition to his remarkable acceptance into UC Berkeley, Kawin was also admitted to 13 other universities, including Imperial College London.
We are extremely proud of Kawin’s accomplishments and are certain that his time at UC Berkeley will be educational, inspiring, and transformative.
