First members of Team Shrewsbury announced

MEMBERS of the new Team Shrewsbury have been announced.

There are 15 students in the first Team. The concept of Team Shrewsbury has been designed to help students reach their highest potential in sport.

All the Team Shrewsbury members will be entitled to wear special sports kits and will be presented with a special tie.

The awards scheme is split into four tiers. The top tier is Elite Gold and Jessica, Jan and Cameron are the first to be given this honour.

Elite Gold athletes are those who have demonstrated the potential to become Development or National Team members. All Elite Gold members will have his or her name placed on the Team Shrewsbury Elite Honours Board in the Memorial Hall.

The Elite Two tier is for students who are excellent team players or performers in the Sports Excellence Programme. Nino, Boyboy, Wai, Akarinth and Tammy have all been chosen to be Elite Two team members.

Elite Three is aimed at Junior School pupils, normally Years 5 and 6, who are showing signs of having emerging talent and commitment. Safe and Bobby are both Elite Three members.

Those in Elite One, Two and Three will all have their names placed on the Honours Board in the school sports hall.

Mr Dunn, Director of Sport, says the formation of Team Shrewsbury will encourage students to strive even harder for sporting excellence.
