Sports Excellence
Vision Statement:
“ Shrewsbury International School Sports Excellence Programme aims to provide competitive sporting opportunities for talented students commensurate with age and ability in a wide variety of sports”.
“To provide a centre of excellence for Basketball, Football, Swimming and Gymnastics which is unique and leading the way in high level performance in South East Asia”.
Sport is an integral part of school life at Shrewsbury. Our goal is to involve, excite and motivate our students in sport. We offer a vibrant, exciting programme of competitive and non-competitive events to encourage maximum participation, individual aspiration, squad achievement and personal excellence.
The competitive sports programme at Shrewsbury runs in addition and parallel to the “You-Time!” programme. It is staffed by teachers and coaches and is coordinated by the Director of Sport and Activities. Students, if selected to represent the school, are required to demonstrate commitment, dedication and sportsmanship throughout the season.
Shrewsbury International School was founded in 2007 with approximately 500 students on its role from EY1 ñ Year 13. During the last 8 years these numbers have doubled to where the student population is now at a respectable 1490. During this time the Sports Excellence Programme has improved, developed and achieved success in many areas. With over 60 sports on offer students from Year 1 to Year 13 students have the opportunity to excel in their chosen fields.
Shrewsbury International School is a member of the BISAC Conference and FOBISSEA organisation and this has allowed for local and international fixtures and tournaments for each of the sports on offer.
The school sports year is split into 3 seasons (each approximately 8 weeks in length), for 5 age groups.
