Shrewsbury Parents Association (SPA)
Shrewsbury Parents Association (SPA) warmly welcomes all parents to our website.
We have a diverse international and multi-cultural parent body, which provides us ample opportunities to make friends and learn about new cultures, as well as to share a wide range of experience in educating our children.
Keep In Touch
SPA organises a coffee morning for new and returning parents at the beginning of the first and second term of the school year. This is a particularly good way of getting to know other parents who may have some of the same interests as you.
In addition to these, SPA also hosts "Tea & Topics" sessions throughout the year, usually once or twice each term. Parents are invited to attend these informative talks often led by the principal or vice-principals regarding various aspects of school life at Shrewsbury International School. From school philosophy and objectives, to curricula and the on-going development and growth of our school, these meetings are in the interest of and to benefit all parents.
Throughout the school year and according to a year group rotation, SPA asks class representatives or form teachers to ask parents to help provide and sell items at our Bake Sales. We ask that when it is your child's class's turn (usually once or twice each school year), interested parents donate homemade baked goods or savory snacks without ANY NUTS or NUT PRODUCTS when their child brings a request home from SPA. Normally, we will have one bake sale each week, held after school in the Morris Forum. Although some parents do not bake, the children (and staff) are always delighted with whatever delicious treats are sent in. All proceeds from these Bake Sales go towards various school-based projects, charities and events that SPA and its volunteers contribute time and effort to. To view this on-going and ever growing list, please read "Riverbank Reflections", on-line or look for it enclosed with the school's weekly newsletters.
For parents who pick up or drop off their children, there is a SPA Notice Board in the Morris Forum. Posters and notes from SPA serve to keep the parents informed of upcoming activities and events. Parents are invited and encouraged to get involved as little or as much as they wish in these. For those who have suggestions and new or different ideas, SPA encourages you to share them with us.
We aim to provide useful information and the opportunity for parents to come together and support our children. Please contact us via email or leave a note for us at reception.
